Mary Ann's Story
I married the love of my life, Scott in May 1980. I'm sure everyone will be surprised to know that we have 11 CHILDREN!!!! Yes, 4 boys and 7 girls = 11 kids! Our oldest just finished graduate school, and our youngest just finished first grade. We love it !!!!!
Scott and I moved to Fairfield, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati 10 years ago. Our oldest, Jeff, moved to Long Island in September and is the senior editor for "The Catholic League" in New York City. Our first "chick" to leave the nest! It's been really rough, especially on Mom. We are a very close family, and the kids get along so well!
Then comes Rob, our second oldest. Rob is five years out from surviving a cancerous brain tumor. It was a rough couple of years for our family, but with our strong faith, we all got through it. Our son Rob is such an inspiration! He's been through two major brain operations, daily radiation treatments, lost all his hair for a while, had to learn how to walk all over again, and had to repeat his senior year of high school over because he was so sick. He NEVER complained, even when he was moved out of his bedroom he shared with his two brothers, and into a hospital bed in our family room. I was taught how to hook Rob up to an IV for 12 hours every night. There is truth to that old saying " DR. MOM ! ". Rob is now finally going back to start college at the University of Cincinnati in the fall.
Tim, our third, will be finishing up his senior year at the University of Dayton. Monica, our 4th,and oldest girl, started college a half year late because she had medical issues and had to have her right kidney removed this past November. A lesion was discovered in her kidney, and dr.'s were unable to get a biopsy,so the kidney was remove...Expand for more
d. We didn't want to take a chance after what Rob went through.
Justina, our next, will be a senior in high school this next year. Then comes Angela a junior. Jacinta is next and she will be a freshman. Lea will be in 7th grade. Rita will be in 6th grade.
Christopher is next, smothered between all these sisters! He will be in 4th grade. The last of the Scott and Mary Ann Field tribe is Anna, who will be in second grade this fall.
Many of you who read this might think Scott and I are crazy, but I would do it all over again if I could. There is nothing more rewarding than a large family!
Scott and the boys are so "sports-minded" as Scott was in high school. Scott is the high school girls basketball coach. He really enjoys it and he will have three of our daughters on the team this year!
We still travel to Hightstown because we both have our parents there and other family members. We never heard of any recent reunions. Does anyone know if our class is gonna do anything? It would be fun even if we combined a couple classes together.
Next year Scott and I will have our first wedding. Our oldest, Jeff will be getting married on Long Island the Saturday after Easter. Scott and I and the other 10 kids will have to travel 700 miles to New York, but it will be a week of fun! Scott told me we have to start saving now to afford the rehearsal dinner for a Long Island wedding!
As for our 7 girls, we plan to send them all into the Convent so we don't have to pay for 7 weddings! I think they'll get snatched up by eligible guys, so our thoughts of all of them entering the religious life, may never happen!
My brain is not very computer-friendly, so I'll need the help of one of my kids to get some family photos for everyone to see.
